Frequently asked questions
Disbursement
- When will I get my financial aid money at MU?
- Funds are disbursed to student accounts at the beginning of each
academic semester after the Financial Aid Office has received all
necessary documents. All first-time borrowers at MU will be required
to complete an electronic entrance counseling session before loan funds will be
disbursed.
-
Where do I pick up my refund check?
- If your total aid for a semester is more than your charges (educational
fees, books you charge to your account, room and board if living in
University housing, etc.), you will receive a refund. You may sign up for direct deposit in the Finance section of your Student Center in myZou.
-
Can I change the amount of the loans that I was awarded in myZou?
- Yes, when you accept your loans for the first time, click accept on the awards screen and then change the amount. Once you click accept, the amount is locked for editing. You may still contact the Coordinator of Financial Aid to adjust your loan amount even after it has disbursed. You may also ask to receive declined loans later in the year as long as you are enrolled and there is enough processing time left in the semester. Simply contact the Coordinator of Financial Aid to discuss your options.
