Psychiatry» Psychiatry Website» Course Information The Department of Psychiatry provides medical students with knowledge and clinical experience focused on major psychiatric disorders and mental well being. Faculty participates in the School of Medicine's introduction to patient care component of the curriculum as preceptors and lectures. During the psychiatry clerkship, faculty serve as clinical educators in a variety of settings including the Missouri Psychiatric Center, University Hospital, Truman Veterans' Hospital and the department's Adult Psychiatry Clinic. Students can continue to work with our faculty in advanced clinical electives in their fourth year in a variety of areas including: adult inpatient psychiatry, adult outpatient psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine.
